VICTORIOUS Showcased at DEFEA 2025 –Advancing European Defence Innovation and Cooperation

The VICTORIOUS project was successfully presented during DEFEA – Defence Exhibition Athens 2025, which took place from 6 to 8 May 2025 at the Metropolitan Expo, Athens.

VICTORIOUS was showcased within the dedicated EDF Project Lake area, located at Hall 1, Stand A33, where selected European Defence Fund (EDF) projects highlighted Europe’s growing capabilities in defence innovation and cooperation.

Funded under the European Defence Fund 2023 Programme (EDF-2023-LS-RA-DIS-NT, Grant Agreement No. 101167898), VICTORIOUS (Innovative AI-Enhanced, Remotely Powered, Indirect Fire Observation System Utilising Unmanned Vehicles) is a €4 million project focused on delivering cutting-edge observation, targeting, and situational awareness solutions for complex operational environments.

The project integrates Artificial Intelligence, wireless power and data transfer technologies, and unmanned platforms to support indirect fire missions, contributing to Europe’s technological sovereignty and defence readiness.

The VICTORIOUS participation at DEFEA 2025 formed part of its official dissemination activities, coordinated by AKMON SA, the project’s lead partner. Through its presence in the EDF Project Lake, VICTORIOUS demonstrated its contribution to strengthening European defence cooperation, fostering industrial synergies, and advancing next-generation capabilities.

The project unites partners from Greece, Bulgaria, Cyprus, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Ireland, reflecting a strong multinational commitment to European defence cross-border collaboration and innovation.

DEFEA 2025 provided an important opportunity to engage with institutional stakeholders, defence authorities, industry leaders, and international partners, raising awareness of VICTORIOUS and its role within the broader EDF framework, supporting Europe’s strategic autonomy and technological excellence.

Kick-Off Meeting of EDF Project “VICTORIOUS” Successfully Held in Athens

The Kick-Off Meeting of the VICTORIOUS project, funded under the European Defence Fund 2023 Work Programme (EDF-2023-LS-RA-DIS-NT, Grant Agreement No. 101167898), was successfully held in Athens, Greece, on 9–10 April 2025.

The meeting took place at The Golden Age Hotel of Athens, marking the official launch of this cutting-edge European defence initiative.

VICTORIOUS (Innovative AI-Enhanced, Remotely Powered, Indirect Fire Observation System Utilising Unmanned Vehicles) is a €4 million project that will develop next-generation observation and targeting capabilities, combining Artificial Intelligence, remote power solutions, and unmanned platforms to enhance indirect fire operations in modern, complex environments.

The project consortium,
coordinated by AKMON (Greece), brings together leading industrial, research and
academic partners from eight European countries, highlighting strong
transnational cooperation in defence innovation. The consortium includes:

The Kick-Off Meeting focused on project objectives, technical scope, key milestones, deliverables, risk mitigation strategies, and stakeholder engagement, while establishing the operational framework for the project’s execution.

The event was honored by the participation of representatives from the Hellenic Army General Staff Artillery Directorate, along with Defence Attachés from the partnering countries, demonstrating the strong institutional support and operational relevance of the VICTORIOUS project for European defence.

With the support of the European Defence Fund, VICTORIOUS contributes to enhancing European technological sovereignty, operational readiness, and the development of advanced capabilities for observation, targeting, and unmanned systems.
